摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform the decomposition treatment of NaNO3 without generating nitric gas (NOx) for converting to an oxide suited for hardening glass by allowing carbon substance to operate on radioactive sodium nitrate (NaNO3) waste. SOLUTION: A radioactive NaNO3 6 in a raw material tank 2 and a carbon substance 7 in a carbon raw material tank 3 are supplied to a mixer 4 for mixing, and mixture 12 is supplied to a treatment container 5 via piping 13. In the treatment container 5, the thrown mixture 12 is slowly agitated by an agitation blade 17 and at the same time is gradually heated by an electric heater 14. The heated NaNO3 is melted at approximately 300 deg.C to become a melted salt 18 where carbon substances in a particle shape are mixed and reacts with the surrounding carbon substances at a temperature region of approximately 350-550 deg.C for decomposition and for emitting N2 and CO2 and becomes a sodium oxide (Na2O) without containing nitric acid root NO3. When the reaction ends and the generation of cracked gases (N2 and CO2) stops, the treatment container 5 is cooled and the mixture of Na2O and residual carbon that are reaction products is collected.
