PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for producing an optical fiber array which is capable of protecting bare fibers and suppressing a loss increase as well. SOLUTION: Two tape-like coated optical fibers 5 and 6 are placed on an aligning member 1. The bare fiber 5a is arrayed to a bare fiber arraying section while warping upward and the bare fiber 6a is arranged in the base fiber arraying section while warping downward. The bare fibers 5a and 6a are pressed by a retaining member 2 (A). A first adhesive 7 is used. An adhesive having a small viscosity before curing is used for the first adhesive 7 (B) Since the amount of the first adhesive 7 is reduced, the bare fibers 5a and 6a are partly exposed. Next, a second adhesive 8 is used (C, D). An adhesive having a small Young's modulus after curing is used for the second adhesive 8.
