PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor and its control method where deterioration in quality can be prevented by applying smoothing to an outputted image depending on an instruction as to whether or not smoothing processing is to be applied to the outputted image. SOLUTION: Image data are received from an external device 101, a pattern matching circuit 102 analyzes a pattern of the image data, and when the pattern is coincident with a prescribed pattern, a smoothing processing circuit 103 interpolates pixels of the data so that the resolution of the image data is converted from 400 dpi into 800 dpi and density of the image data is corrected so as to be smoothed. A selector 105 selects and outputs an output of the smoothing processing circuit 103 or the output from the external device 101 on the basis of an SST-ON/OFF signal whose level is designated by the user. |
