PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water leak sound discriminating system capable of performing a highly reliable data collection and long-time data accumulation and analysis with minimum labor and a method for specifying water leak area using this system. SOLUTION: The sensor output signal S1 of a sensor 2 is connected to the sensor output signal input side of a leak discrimination data memory 3, and the timer output S3 of a timer 4 is connected to the sensor output signal input side of the leak discrimination data memory 3, and the leak discrimination data S2 of the leak discrimination data memory 3 is connected to a leak discrimination data output terminal 5. A leak discrimination data input terminal 12 is connected to the input side of a data processing circuit 13, and the leak discrimination data input terminal 12 is integrated to the data processing circuit 13 to constitute a portable data collector 11. The leak discrimination data output terminal 5 is connected to the leak discrimination data input terminal 12, when the portable data collector 11 reads the leak discrimination data S2 from the leak discrimination unit 1, to perform the delivery of the leak discrimination data S2.
