The seat belt anchor for a motor vehicle has a hook (33,34) pivoted on an axis (X-X, Y-Y) fixed horizontally to the frame of the seat. The hook has a fixing for the seat belt. An elongated retainer (2) is fixed longitudinally to the vehicle floor (P). The axis of pivoting of the hook extends parallel to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle.
