PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image input system suitable for the case that many people share one image input device especially where contents of a set original can be confirmed without opening a cover of the image input device. SOLUTION: The image input device 6 has a tray member 10 that holds an original, a tray support means 1 that positions and supports the tray member 10 and also a cover member 13 that is opened/closed from/to the tray member 10, and the opening/closing of the cover member is detected by a projection piece 25 provided to the cover member and a micro switch 26 provided to a main body 12. Then a part on the tray member 10 is scanned attended with the opening/closing of the cover member 13 and tray image information can be obtained. Since the tray image information is displayed on a display device of each image processing terminal, the user of each terminal can confirm contents of the original in the image processor.
