PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character input device that has a character input means which can be operated by one hand and is small-sized and superior in portability. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a case 100 which is small enough to be put on a palm, one button 101 for character input, a buzzer for monitoring button depression, and a communication connector 104 for an external information equipment 102 and comprises a control part which recognizes and converts a key depression pattern based upon the Morse code and inputted from the button 101 into a character code, a storage device which stores the character code, and a communication device which sends the character code to the external information equipment 102.
