PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the damage of a heating roller caused by the wear, and also to enhance and stabilize the responsiveness for stopping the power supply when an abnormal heat is generated in the heating roller by installing a heat transfer roller between a temperature detecting element and the heating roller so that the heat of the heating roller may be transferred to the temperature detecting element through the heat transfer roller. SOLUTION: The mechanism is provided with the temperature detecting element 44 for detecting the temperature and at least the heat transfer roller 46 which rotatably lies in between the temperature detecting element 44 and the heating roller 10 and also which comes in contact with the heating roller 10 and which is constituted of high heat conductive material, and the heat of the heating roller 10 is transferred to the temperature detecting element 44 through the heat transfer roller 46, then, the temperature of the heating roller 10 is detected. Besides, an energizing spring 58 for energizing a holder 52 toward the heating roller 10 is installed between the holder 52 and a casing 54. Thus, the heat transfer roller 46 supported by the holder 52 is pressurized by the heating roller 10, then, the gap distance between the temperature detecting element 44 supported by the holder 52 and the heating roller 10 is always kept constant.
