PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head in which any leakage flux in the neighborhood of a magnetic gap can not be substantially generated, and a method for manufacturing this magnetic head. SOLUTION: Cylindrical core semi-bodies 19 and 20 are prepared, and a prescribed first groove 23 is formed in the longitudinal direction of the core semi-body 19 on the prescribed surface of the core semi-body 19, and soft magnetic alloy thin films 24 and 25 are adhered to the surfaces of the core semi-bodies 19 and 20. Then, a plurality of second grooves 28 and 29 are formed in a direction substantially vertical to the longitudinal direction of core semi-bodies 19 and 20 at each side of the core semi-bodies 19 and 20 to which the soft magnetic allow thin films 24 and 25 are adhered so that temporary tracks 26 and 27 whose width is larger than prescribed track width can be left. Then, this pair of core semi-bodies 19 and 20 are butted to each other so as to be shifted so that the temporary tracks 26 and 27 can be substantially faced to each other in the track width, and molten glass in a prescribed temperature is packed in the plurality of second grooves 28 and 29 in a state such that the faced state is maintained so that a core bar can be formed. The core bar is cut into a prescribed size including the track width so that a magnetic head can be generated.
