PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a wrong use of used card which has been recovered from a customer by a card system and can be recycled. SOLUTION: This card recovery device recovers a prepaid card 4 which incorporates a data carrier IC and can be recycled and to the card surface of which a rewrite seal where printing can be erased by heating is stuck. In this case, a hot stamp mechanism 13 which erases printing recorded in the rewrite seal of the card 4 by heating by pressing this seal to its rear stage side is provided in a card carrying line between a card slot 2 opened to the front of a main body cabinet 1 and a card recovery box 5 in the device in parallel with an antenna 8 which communicates with the data carrier of the card 4 to read data and erases recorded data in the data carrier, and the card which the customer has returned is recovered with all of data and printing erased to prevent the wrong use before re-issue of the card.
