PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable photosensitive material which does not cause the problem of tendency to curl even when rolled and is excellent in development stability even in the case of a large development area. SOLUTION: The heat developable photosensitive material has a photosensitive layer containing a photosensitive silver halide, an organic silver salt, a reducing agent and a binder on the substrate and contains a matting agent having larger than 10μm average particle diameter in a layer on the substrate opposite to the photosensitive layer. Preferably the photosensitive material has a matting agent even on the photosensitive layer side, has the relation of 0<(the average particle diameter of the matting agent on the photosensitive layer side)/(the average particle diameter of the matting agent in the layer opposite to the photosensitive layer)<2/3, satisfies the relation of 0<(the matting degree of the surface on the photosensitive layer side)/(the matting degree of the surface opposite to the photosensitive layer)<1/5 and contains a hydrazine compound.
