PURPOSE: A broadcast recording device for receiving and storing a TV broadcasting program from a broadcasting station on a recording medium is provided. CONSTITUTION: A method for recording a specific genre by recognizing a text sets a text for showing a genre which a user wants to automatically record and a recording time, detects a displayed text by processing an image signal of a received broadcasting signal, and records the received broadcasting signal for the previously-set recording time when the detected displayed text includes the previously-set text. When the user selects the text of the specific genre, although he/she does not select the recording operation every time, the image signal having the corresponding text is automatically recorded for a predetermined time, thereby improving the user's convenience.
