METHOD FOR DISTINGUISHING DISK IN CD/DVD USING DISK PLAYER

PURPOSE: A method for distinguishing disk in CD/DVD using disk player is provided to consult a user's convenience by distinguishing type of disk according to quantity of light focused to a photo diode of a photo pickup and by making laser diodes corresponding to a loaded disk be converted automatically in a pickup part in a CD/DVD using disk player in which two laser diodes having different wave length is installed for dual focus. CONSTITUTION: A method for distinguishing disk in CD/DVD using disk player comprises several steps. A focus search step is to execute a focus search action after an execution of an initial step in which a disk is loaded in a tray.(S1,S2) A quantity of light detecting step is to detect beam signal focused to a photo diode in the focus search step(S3). A signal converting step is to convert the beam signal in the quantity of light detecting step to a digital signal(S4). A comparing step is to compare data of quantity of light in the signal converting step with an established value stored previously(S5). A playback step is to read data recorded in a disk for the disk is determined to be a CD if the data of the quantity of light is larger than the established value(S6). A laser diode converting step is to convert laser diodes and to execute the playback step for the disk is determined to be a DVD if the data of the quantity of light is smaller than the established value(S7).
