A plastic bag with reclosable fastener strips is formed from plastic film. The reclosable fastener strip includes members 12, 14, with male and female profiles 16, 18. Each member has a leading flange 30. One of the leading flanges has a line of perforations 32. The leading flanges may be sealed or bonded together at 20. The bag is formed by attaching the strip transversely to the longitudinal axis of the film. The strips are sealed to the film and to each other at a point between the line of perforations 32 and end 20. The film, with attached strip is then fed to a form, fill, seal machine, with the leading flanges facing the direction of motion of the film. In the finished bag, the strips are sealed to the bag walls, with end 20 facing into the bag. The bag is opened by pulling the strips apart, which tears the strips apart at the line of perforations. This arrangement prevents the strips fouling the filling funnel during bag formation. |
