PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reader surely executing impressing processing which shows finish of reading an original. SOLUTION: The reader 100 has a CPU 1, an SCSI interface control part 2, a picture reading control part 3, an endorser (impression processing control part) 4, a ROM 5, a RAM 6 and a paper ejecting tray shift control part 7. Based on a picture reading starting instruction transmitted from a PC not shown in figure through the part 2, reading is started by each line and when picture information exists at an impression scheduled position, a paper is ejected without impression processing. At the time of this paper ejection, the part 7 ejects a paper by sorting to an original given impression processing and an original which is not given impression processing to reduce the burden of post processing of an original. In a case when picture information exists at an impression scheduled position, impression processing is executed by retrieving an area where impression processing is possible, thereby impression processing is surely executed.
