The unit includes a heat exchanger (31) using the engine cooling liquid and unit for controlling the fuel output pressure. The automatic control of the fuel output pressure is ensured by a valve (32) controlling the gaseous fuel flow, at the regulator-heater input, using an electronic computer (33). The fuel vapor output pressure (34) is measured by a pressure sensor (35) and electronically adjusted to a value proportional to the pressure in the engine intake manifold, so that the gas supply device operates in sonic mode, for at least one operating range of the engine.
