PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor having an element cover capable of protecting a gas detection element, capable of preventing condensed water from entering the gas sensor and capable of enhancing sensor reponsiveness. SOLUTION: A gas sensor has a housing 4 holding a gas detection element 10 having a gas contact part 11 and the element cover 2 covering the gas contact part 11. The element cover 2 is formed by superposing an outer tube 20 and an inner tube 3 one upon another. Lateral holes 25, 35 are provided to the side part 21 of the outer tube 20 and the side part 31 of the inner tube 3 while bottom holes 26, 36 are provided to the bottom part 22 of the outer tube 20 and the bottom part 32 of the inner tube 3. The lateral hole 25 of the outer tube 20 and the lateral hole 35 of the inner tube 3 are shifted so as not to be overlapped and a gap D of 0.2-1.0 mm is provided between the bottom part 22 of the outer tube 20 and the bottom part 32 of the inner tube 3. |
