PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow even a 3rd party other than a manufacturer of a video input device and a video input system to authenticate justice of generated digital video data. SOLUTION: The system is provided with a digital signature generating section C-CODEC that generates a digital signature identifying video data on the basis of secret information specific to the video input device that converts a video image formed by an optical element into the digital data (e.g. a secret key used by a digital signature system of a public key encryption system) and of the digital video data. The correspondence relation is used for a clear fact by making the video input device correspond to the secret information in one- to-one without fail by deciding the secret information with a physical property specific to the video input device.
