PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize appropriate exposure by more accurately deciding back light. SOLUTION: This exposure controller is lied to the camera equipped with a photometric IC capable of performing photometry concerning plural photometric areas(1-1L to 6L), and a multi AF sensor unit capable of performing range- finding concerning plural range-finding areas(1D to 3D). Based on substance luminance obtained based on image data obtained from a sensor area S2 corresponding to a range-finding area(for example, 3D) selected as a range-finding area used for focusing out of plural range-finding areas(1D to 3D), the average luminance of the range-finding area (3D) is arithmetically calculated to obtain a sub photometric value BVaf, while the average value of the photometric data of peripheral photometric areas(1-1L to 1-4L) positioned at a peripheral part out of plural photometric areas(1-1L to 1-6L) is set as a reference photometric value BVd. When a difference (Bvd-Bvaf) between the reference photometric value BVd and the sub photometric value BVaf is equal to or above a set value previously set(for example, 2.0 Ev), it is decided as the back light and a stroboscope is made to emit light at the time of photographing. |
