PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a constitution capable of performing not only reception but also transmission, to secure a power source to equipment for transmission and reception and to prevent power off or the like at the time of emergency transmission. SOLUTION: This portable radio is provided with a reception part and a transmission part. A speaker is connected to the reception part and a microphone is connected to the transmission part respectively. In a power source part, a power generator 7 linked with a hand-operated handle 5 and a charger 11 for charging generated electromotive force to a charging battery 12 are provided separately from a commercial power source. In the power generator 7, a spring 10 for storing elastic force linked with the hand-operated handle 5 is provided on the rotary shaft 5A. The stored force of the spring 10 is discharged after the operation of the hand-operated handle 5 is ended or at the point of time that the charging amount of the charging battery 12 lacks.
