PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inform a client of printer constitution information through relatively small information transfer by allowing the client to generate print information according to the printer constitution information stored in a printer server. SOLUTION: Clients 101 to 103 performs retrieval from a printer constitution information management data base on the print server 105 and confirms the data base so as to obtain print information optimized matching mounted options. When the printer constitution information is within an effective range, print information is generated based on the held printer constitution information. The optimized print information is sent to the print server 105 through a network. If the constitution that the client 101 holds includes information which has expired, the print server is inquired of about only the information having expired and based on the information sent back from the server 105, the data base information is replaced if the constitution information is updated, thereby newly setting the term of validity.
