PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiver which is not malfunctioned even when a user touches a remote control unit of the receiver in mistake while viewing a signal of an external device and by which the operation required for the user to mainly view the external device can be simplified. SOLUTION: When an external tuner 30 is connected to an external input terminal 11 of a television receiver 10 and the television receiver 10 is switched on, a signal detection section 13 detects a signal received at the terminal 11, and a detection signal is fed to a control section 17. When the control section 17 receives the detection signal from the signal detection section 13, the control section 17 is programmed in such a way that the control section 17 rejects a control signal based on an operation of a TV remote control unit 101 and does not conduct the control operation along with the contents. Thus, the remote control by the TV remote control unit 101 is not effective when the external tuner 30 gives a signal to the television receiver 10 and even when the user touches the TV remote control unit 101 in mistake, no malfunction is caused. |
