PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost and to save a space by using command IF, status IF and picture data IF in common. SOLUTION: Command data or status data are exchanged between a first device and a second device by using picture data non-transfer time which occurs when picture data is transferred from the first device to the second device at every line. Namely, command/status lines between a scanner 11 and a page memory 12 and the page memory and a printer are used with a picture data transfer line in common and a period out of a picture data transfer period is set to be a command/status transfer period. Scanner IF is formed of a signal conversion part 21 as the block of a scanner 11-side, a signal conversion part 22 as the block of a memory unit 12-side, one signal line 23 for scanner picture data transfer clock and eight signals 25 for scanner picture data signal.
