PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily install a radiation shield in an existing building and remove it when it becomes unnecessary by permeating an internal shield member consisting of a heavy metal at the gap of a porous shield member made of graphite for hardening and forming a radiation shield. SOLUTION: When an internal shield member 7 made of such heavy metal as graphite is melted in a container, a block-shaped porous shield member 6 made of graphite is dipped into it so that it does not float, and the porous shield member 6 is taken out for cooling after required time passes, the internal shield member 7 permeates the gap of the porous shield member 6 to form a hardened radiation shield. In the radiation shield, graphite shields neutron rays and a heavy metal such as lead shields gamma rays. The radiation shield is formed in blocks in a factory and may be aligned in the field, thus manufacturing the shield with constant quality at low costs and installing and removing≃shield easily.
