PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reduction-resistant dielectric composition which is uniform in properties by a method wherein a mixed liquid that contains barium titanate powder, metal compounds which contains a specific amount of Mn, Dy, Mg, Ba, Ca, and Si, and ammonia water is prepared, and powder obtained from the mixed liquid is thermally treated. SOLUTION: A water solution where oxide podwer which contains barium titanate powder, about 0.1 to 0.3 mol Mn, about 1.0 to 2.0 mol Dy, and about 0.3 to 1.0 mol Mg in terms of metal ion to 100 mol barium titanate and nitrate or carboxylate which contains Ba and Ca of about 0.5 to 1.5 mol are dissolved and an organic solution where Si alcoxide which contains about 1.0 to 2.5 mol Si is dissolved are muddied. A prescribed amount of amrnonia water of concentration 0.5 wt.% or below is made to drip into the muddled solution stirring the muddled solution so as to prepare a mixed solution. The mixed solution is dried out to obtain a solid matter, and the solid matter is ground. Ground powder is thermally treated at a temperature of about 300 to 500 deg.C in the air.
