PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an erroneous count owing to noise by detecting the inversion of tracking zero cross signals, measuring a time after the tracking zero cross signals are inverted and not making increment a counter when the tracking zero cross signals are inverted before the elapse of a fixed time or more. SOLUTION: A radius of a current position is obtained from sub Q code data which are currently read with a light pickup 16. Next, a radius of a target track is obtained from TOC data which are preliminarily read and stored when a disk 12 is started. The number of jumping tracks to be jumped is calculated with the light pickup 16, and a kick voltage is supplied from a signal processor DSP 20 in accordance to a command from a microcomputer 22 to start seeking operation of the light pickup 16. Noise signals are discriminated by judging whether a value of the tracking zero cross signals counted with a counter 24 reaches the number of the jumping tracks or not.
