PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid quantity detector for detecting the residual quantity of ink, for example, and an electronic apparatus employing it. SOLUTION: A liquid quantity detector comprises a sponge 7 contained in a container 1 having a flow-out hole, ink absorbed to the sponge 7, and a resistance detecting means having electrodes 4a, 4b on the surface of the sponge 7 or on the inside thereof and lead terminals 5a, 5b connected therewith. Since the resistance between the electrodes 4a, 4b is varied when the quantity of ink impregnated into the sponge 7 is varied, the quantity of liquid can e detected based on the variation of resistance.
