PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To image and input a treated part from a metal product to which a surface treatment such as plating or the like is partially applied in sufficient contrast to accurately inspect the same. SOLUTION: In a metal surface inspecting apparatus equipped with a sample placing part 10, an illumination device 12 illuminating the surface of the metal product W placed on the placing part, a CCD camera 14 photographing the illuminated surface of the metal product and an image processor 16 for processing the image obtained by photographing to inspect the surface state of the metal product, the illumination device 12 is arranged at the posigtion where an illumination angle is 45 deg. or less with respect to the surface of the metal product photographed by the CCD camera 14.
