PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a gas meter under test from being interrupted intentionally by a third person by executing the interrupting operation of an interrupting valve only when a specified pulse field is supplied a specified number of times and a reed switch is conducted by a specified number of times. SOLUTION: A gas meter is set using a meter setter 34 comprising an electromagnet 32 and a light receiving switch 33 comprising a light receiving element. Test interruption is executed when a meter is fixed to a site and gas is supplied to a consumer. A worker generates a specified magnetic field utilizing a magnet 32 to conduct a reed switch 26 and delivers a test interruption signal to a microcomputer 24 thus closing an interrupting valve 16 while checking the function with a response signal of a LED switch 28 from a computer 24. A pulse field is supplied by a specified number of times to the reed switch 26 and test interruption is enabled only when the switch 26 is conducted by a specified number of times. The interrupting valve 16 is not closed by normal operation.
