PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscopic device which is capable of adjusting the brightness of illumination light for irradiating an observation section so as to meet the user's likeness in an endoscopic observation state. SOLUTION: An illumination lamp 31 built into a battery type light source 5 is lighted by the electric power from a battery 32. The electric circuit of the battery type light source 5 comprises the illumination lamp 31, the battery 32 which is the power source of the illumination lamp 31, a variable resistor 33 which changes the exit light quantity and electric power consumption of the illumination lamp 31 by regulating the voltage applied on the illumination lamp 31 and a power source switch 34 which is disposed between conductive passages connecting the battery 32 and the variable resistor 33. The resistance value of the variable resistor 33 built in the battery type light source 5 is freely changed by rotationally manipulating a light quantity adjustment dial freely turnably disposed on the base end side of a lamp housing section, by which the adjustment of the exit light quantity is made possible.
