Use of 2-phenyl-3-benzoyl-benzo[b]thiophene derivatives for treating neuropeptide Y associated disorders

Benzo[b]thiophenes of the formula I or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or solvate thereof are used in the manufacture of a medicament for inhibiting a physiological disorder with an excess of neuropeptide Y in a warm blooded animal. In formula I: R1 and R3 are independently H, -CH3, -CO-alkyl or -CH2-Ar or -CO-Ar; Ar is optionally substituted phenyl and R2 is pyrrolidine, hexamethyleneimino, or piperidino.
