Insertion of secret mark and authentication of compressed digital image

The watermark is inserted as supplementary data in the form of binary values of the same bit length as the coefficients representing the image. A control bit is computed for one or more coefficients based on 15 of the 16 bits of the coefficient. The supplementary information is computed by applying a reversible rule to the control bit, and substituted for the coefficient.
