PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize reproduction with enlarged magnetic domains without causing repeated reproduction, to enable reproduction of signals of a period smaller than the diffraction limit of light without decreasing the amplitude of reproduced signals, and to greatly improve the recording density. SOLUTION: In this medium, at least first, second and third magnetic layers, 1, 2, 3, respectively, are successively laminated. The first magnetic layer 1 consists of a perpendicular magnetization film having smaller resistance against magnetic force on domain walls and larger mobility of domain walls compared to the third magnetic layer 3 at a temp. near the reproducing temp relatively. This magneto-optical recording medium satisfies the conditions of Tc2<Tcomp1<Tc1 and Tc2<Tcomp1<Tc3, wherein Tcomp1 is the compensation temp. of the first magnetic layer 1, and Tc1, Tc2, Tc3 are Curie temps. of the first magnetic layer 1, second magnetic layer 2 and third magnetic layer 3, respectively. |
