PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption when a compressor is stopped. SOLUTION: An air conditioner 10 comprises a compressor 14 for imparting circulation power to a refrigerant and rendering the refrigerant to have high temperature and high pressure, the compressor being provided with a crank case heater 18. While the compressor is stopped, the crank case heater is switched on so that lubricating oil and the refrigerant can be separated in the compressor. The crank case heater is switched off while the compressor is stopped on condition that the outdoor temperature is not less than a given temperature X after a lapse of a given period of time Y.
