PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the size of a notation analysis dictionary by providing a notation reading dictionary, which contains more than one reading by notations and retrieving the reading of a notation corresponding to a combination of the notation and a notation reading number from the notation reading dictionary. SOLUTION: In order to obtain reading of a word, a notation analyzing means 103 passes the combination of a notation and a corresponding notation reading number to a notation reading retrieving means 105, character by character, from the head notation to the tail notation of the word. The notation reading retrieving means 105 retrieves the notation reading passed from the notation analyzing means 103 from the notation reading dictionary and returns the obtained reading to the notation analyzing means 103. The notation analyzing means 103 repeatedly obtains readings from the head notation to the tail notation of the word and connects all obtained readings to obtain the reading of the word. The notation analyzing means 103 finds a combination of words in matching with the inputted notation character string and connects and outputs the readings of the obtained combination of the words as a reading character string.
