PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent leakage from an expansion graphite packing effectively and facilitate cost reduction in manufacture by forming a net-shaped raw material consisting of rigid fiber between a central core member and yarn. SOLUTION: This string-shaped gland packing 4 is formed by covering the periphery of a central core member 1 consisting of bar-shaped molded part or the like with a net-shaped raw material 2 formed out of rigid fiber such as metallic wire, and braiding, for the periphery, a plurality of yarn 3 which covers the periphery of expansion graphite tape with reinforced fiber. It is thus possible to prevent deformation of the central. core member, and improve adhesion between yarns for high sealability because yarn bits into the net-shaped raw material at the time of molding roll. |
