PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve electrical conductivities among hydrogen storage alloy powders, and to manufacture a flexible negative electrode having low electrode resistance by applying/rolling paste obtained by kneading specific quantity of a hydrogen storage alloy powder, carbon powder, water and prescribed quantity of binding agent to/on a conductive base board. SOLUTION: Powders different in a specific gravity are sufficiently premixed 100 wt.% by putting hydrogen storage alloy powder and a 0.3 to 1.2% carbon powder in a vessel 3. This hydrogen storage alloy powder has desirably the average particle size, 5 to 50 μm, and the carbon powder has desirably the specific surface area 700 to 1,300 m2/g. Next, a dispersant, such as prescribed quantity of CMC and 25 to 60% deionized water are added to and mixed in this mixed powder, and a binding agent such as polytetrafluoroethylene is added by about 1.5% to be kneaded by using a mixing tool to form paste. This paste is applied to a conductive base board to be rolled after drying. Thus, the carbon powder is solidified secondarily, hydrogen storage alloy powders are connected mutually to obtain a paste type negative electrode having low electrode resistance. |
