PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk recording and reproducing device of a small size and thin type capable of surely transporting a standby disk. SOLUTION: The recording and reproducing position and disk stock position of the disk 102 are separated and when the standby disk is transported from a disk stock section (disk stock position) 2 to a disk playing section (the recording and reproducing position of the disk) 4, only the spacing through which the disk passes is slightly opened and guided by guide members 24 and 25 so that the disk 102 is held when the disk 102 is placed on a turntable 8 and the disk is made to stand by to the position where playing is not affected when the disk 102 is reproduced. The sure transportation of the disk 102 and the reduction in the size and thickness of the apparatus are made possible.
