PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bias magnetic field generator capable of increasing the intensity of magnetic field while realizing the miniaturization and low power consumption of the device. SOLUTION: The bias magnetic field generator for supplying the bias magnetic field to the recording area in the radial direction of the disk 1 is provided with a coil 4 for generating the magneto-motive force a center yoke 5a consisting of the part forming a core of this coil 4 and the working surface corresponding to the recording area, and an auxiliary permanent magnet 7 freely rotatably held at the opposite side against the coil 4 across the disk. By this arrangement, the intensity of the magnetic field is increased while realizing the miniaturization and low power consumption of the device. Preferably, by further providing an auxiliary yoke between the permanent magnet and the yoke of the coil side the efficiency is furthermore increased and the low power consumption is realized.
