PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protection film for a polarizing plate which has little optical anisotropy, interference unevenness, etc., has excellent optical characteristics and is excellent in the workability of detecting the defect of the polarizing plate and a separation film therefor. SOLUTION: The polarizing plate, which is formed by bonding the protection film on one surface of the polarizing plate provided with a polarizer and protective films on both surfaces thereof and a separation film on the opposite surface, is subjected to surface protection in such a manner that the protection film and/or separation film consists of a resin film which is stretched 1.00 to 2.50 times in one direction and 2.5 to 7.0 times in a direction orthogonal therewith and is heat fixed in a temperature range of (Tm-150) to (Tm-25).
