Flexible cable connector suitable for thinning of an electronic device comprising a housing and a plurality of contacts of respective conductors. The housing has an upper plate, a lower plate and a flexible cable insertion hole defined between these plates and the lower plated seats on a printed wiring board. A plurality of contacts are arranged in a direction perpendicular to a flexible cable insertion direction along the lower plate inside the housing. The lower plate extends beyond the upper plate in a direction opposite to the flexible cable insertion direction. This construction enables the flexible cable to easily slide along the extension portion of the lower plate to facilitate flexible cable mounting.
