PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing unit with excellent operation convenience by expanding/contracting data of plural original images to be read as image data, distributing them to be summarized image data, storing tentatively the summarized image data and controlling the summarized image data in a way of facsimile transmission. SOLUTION: An image read sensor 109 sequentially reads an image from two originals, and read image 111 are given to a selector section 113 via a conversion correction processing section 112. The selector section 113 leads the read image data 111 to an image summarization controller section 115 according to an instruction 114 of a controller section 101. The image summarization controller section 115 expands/contracts the image data 111 read from the two originals 103 with respect to a specified paper size 117 that is a medium to conduct 2-in-1 summarization under an instruction 116 of the controller section 101, executes summarization processing of the distributed image data and temporarily stores image data 118 to an image memory 119.
