<p>A fastening assembly (10) for use as a pivot joint for a first member (12) and a second member (14) which have alignable openings (16, 20) therethrough. The fastening assembly (10) comprises a fastener (22) having a longitudinal axis and a bushing (24) mounted on the fastener (22) with the bushing (24) having a first end (42) and a second end (44). The second end (44) of the bushing (24) being formed wherein upon the combined fastener (22) and bushing (24) being mounted within the aligned openings (16, 20) the second bushing end (44) extends only through the opening (16) of the first member (12) whereby upon its engagement with the second member (14) during installation it flares radially outwardly from the longitudinal axis of the fastener (22) and between the first and second members (12, 14) thereby providing automatic retention of the bushing (24) and, resilient spacing between the first and second members (12, 14).</p> |
