<p>A device (40) for converting at least four parallel data streams on respective input data (P0-P3) into one serial data strea m on a fiber optic data line (18). The device (40) includes a first multiplexer (42) for multiplexing at least two data streams i nto a first intermediate output stream and a second multiplexer (44) for multiplexing other parallel data streams into a second output. A serializing transmitter (52) is coupled to the multiplexers (42, 44). A signal synchronizes the serializing of the first and second output and tags output data as corresponding to data from each of the respective input data lines.</p> |
