IMPROVED VISCOELASTIC COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS OF USE

Compositions and methods for treating mammalian tissues are disclosed. The compositions are improved stability, viscoelastic compositions comprising physiological antioxidants, bifunctional compounds having an anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant moiety covalently linked by an amide or ester bond, in a viscoelastic vehicle. The methods are particularly useful in the prevention or treatment of inflammatory and proliferative events incident to ocular surgery.
