The invention concerns a method for regulating the speed of a motor vehicle equipped with means for detecting and monitoring mobile targets and onboard means for electronic control of the vehicle speed, and moving on a traffic lane among other vehicles running on adjacent parallel lanes in the same direction, such that it automatically regulates the speed according to a set speed value selected by the driver and to the relative speeds of the vehicles detected on its traffic lane and the adjacent lanes, by permanently analysing the traffic conditions within the detection field of onboard range finding means located at the front of the vehicle. |
