The invention relates to an antenna for automobiles which has the following characteristics: a bottom part (1), a housing (2, 3) with a base plate (2), an elastomeric sealing (5) and means for fixing the bottom part (1) on a component (4) of the car body of the automobile, especially the roof. The invention is characterised in that a buffer (19) which protrudes downwards over the lower edge (6) of the housing (2, 3) is provided in the area which is surrounded by the sealing (5) at the lower side of the base plate (2). The material, mass and arrangement of said buffer are chosen in such a way that the counterforce of the buffer, which is produced during clamping of the bottom part (1) at the component (4) of the car body by upsetting the buffer, together with the counterforce which is produced between the longitudinal axis (14) of the extension (7) and the most adjacent apex (14) by upsetting the sealing (5) in the section (5a) of the sealing is balancing out the counterforce which is produced by upsetting the sealing (5) in the section (5b) of the sealing between the longitudinal axis (14) of the extension (16) and the distant apex (16). An uneven gap between the component (4) of the car body and the lower edge (6) of the housing (2, 3) is thereby prevented.
