A bonnet lid 11 is fixed at both of its rear corners to movable hinge parts 12 mounted on pivots 16 supported by hinge parts 15, 15<SP>1</SP> fixed at 32 on the floors 27 of niches such as 17, which niches extend rearwardly beyond the points of intersection 19 of longitudinal and transverse joint crevices 21, 23. The niches may be formed either separately, or by a scuttle plate 24 bent at each end to provide side-walls 25, 26 and the floors 27 of the niches, the back end walls being formed by parts 28 of the scuttle columns. Water is run off by a duct 30, and the niches are covered at the top by removable strips 29. A rear boot lid 34, Fig. 9, has niches 35 similarly positioned with respect to longitudinal and transverse joint crevices, and the inner side wall, end wall 37, and base 38 of each niche are formed by a strip 39 fixed from below and having a water drain 53 and covering strips 42, 43. The outer side wall is formed by a wheel casing. The hinge brackets 44 are bolted on the rear wall 37, and the movable hinge parts 47 are mounted on pivot pins 41 and suitably connected to the lid 34. |
