A heat exchanger consists of several parallel flat tubes (1) through which the heat-exchange medium flows. They are connected with their ends to common outward- and return-flow unions (3) flowed against on the outside by the second heat-exchange medium. To at least a part of the flat tubes are assigned electrically driven heating elements as additional heating. The flat tubes on at least one of the two narrow sides are provided with a heating wire (9) laid in a recess (8) and fastened there. The heating wire is provided with an insulation (13). The recess consists of an open groove which runs the length of the flat tubes.
