The antenna system has a multiple antenna arrangement (1) and at least two antennas from whose reception voltages at least two antenna signals are formed and fed to a logic switch (2) for passing a diversity signal to the receiver (3) to drive a diversity processor (4) that increments the switch in the event of reception noise. The maximum received signal level, and hence the maximum level logic switch position, are continuously determined and the logic switch is changed back to incremental mode for the maximum level switching mode if noise is detected by the diversity processor.
